Introduction to Homeland Security provides an historic overview of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), including the legislation that led to its creation and implementation. The course reviews related definitions and concepts, as well as the organizational structure of DHS. The course likewise reviews the National Incident Management System (NIMS). Students examine the all-hazards approach to emergency management, including prevention, preparation, response, and recovery to critical incidents.
